Sadly, we must announce the passing of Tentle Wentle. Given to me by my grandparents, he has housed us temporarily for about ten years in the best of nature and sometimes the side of a highway on a bluff (most recently). A cheerful red and airy tent finds a day when his pole splits. We did use duct tape to secure it, but the pressure of the bent pole then affected the seams and other poles. When we arrived back to our roadside home it was in disarray from the wind. Unfortunately after more research we found a second cracked pole and a ripped tent.
We would proudly like to announce a new addition, Tentalina, a blue Coleman.
After finding our new temporary home, we found Santa Monica. The end of route 66.
A more commercial beach than those of San Diego county. You may even channel a bit of the Jersey shore spirit in its boardwalk, but with gorgeous water and views.
And finally we hit traffic, human and car. Approximately 5 minutes per mile is needed to move about Los Angeles and area.
We did conquer Hollywood in about an hour. Even that may have been too much time. The crowds of Times Square with the random people trying desperately to give you their free CDs and a tour. We couldn't even bare touring around downtown LA.

Okay... I just caught up on several updates! RIP Tentle Wentle :o(
ReplyDeleteEverything seems amazing! I love your California bear hat, and I hope that Mark never shaves ever again because his road trip beard is absolutely epic.
While California looks beautiful, you are not allowed to stay out there forever, we would miss you too much!
Drink lots of beers for Greg and me! Especially Greg, as he sobs and cries out Mark's name nightly (really disrupts my sleep, honestly.)
